Industry and Mining
The industry and mining sector in Iran is one of the mainstays of the economy. This sector vastly cooperates with other social, economic, and political sectors all over the country, and its role is crucial in the country’s economy. Familiarity with the plans and policies in this sector could give us a better understanding of Iran’s economic prospects and conditions in the future. This sector is inextricably interwoven with the areas of banking, stock exchange, production and distribution, employment, export and import, producer and consumer relations, and many other areas. Such close interconnections lead us to notice the importance of being familiar with this sector.
NIPEC’s highly-skilled staff have taken very key steps in carrying out industrial and mining projects for 25 years. Considering the fact that NIPEC’s primary specialty is in the area of mineral processing industry, and also the fact that the mining private sector is developing fast, the company is willing to conduct studies, invest in, construct, and operate small and medium-sized mines.
Oil and Gas Industry
Today, trading of energy, and in particular oil, accounts for an extremely large proportion of world trade.
Petroleum products are amongst the most strategic goods in the world and need to be treated differently. Therefore, managing, improving, and securing oil trade is a top high priority for oil exporting and importing countries in their national and international plans. The emergence of oil industry in Iran dates back to a century ago and today, it is a mature industry, which makes use of domestic experts and state-of-the-art technologies to flourish further.
Prioritization of the affairs, based on the conditions and potential of the country, is vital to purposeful investment, especially in the oil and gas industry, which is divided into upstream and downstream sectors. The upstream sector includes searching, exploration, and extraction while the downstream sector includes a range of activities from refining crude oil to make it possible to transport, to petrochemical industry, to the final products. The downstream sector is a costly and highly competitive business, so investment in this sector is risky. What matters here is technology and not raw material.
NIPEC has performed downstream projects in Iran; NIPEC had the role of consulting service provider and Management Contractor (MC) for the following projects:
- Gas delivery to Golgohar Iron Ore Complex
- Construction of the butadiene unit in Jam Petrochemical Complex
- Construction of the PVC unit for Arvand Petrochemical Company
- Construction of Hegmataneh Petrochemical Plant
- Gas delivery to Mes-e Sarcheshmeh city
- Gas delivery to office buildings of Kerman Commercial Services Company
- Gas delivery to Khatoon Abad Copper Complex
- Gas delivery to Benvid White Cement Company
Energy
There are certain essentials that could guarantee the achievement of sustainable development. Absence of any of the essentials could pose threats to the process of development. Energy supplying, in particular electricity, is one of the most important pillars of development, which affects how dynamic society and industry are.
Given the current operational capacity of the country’s power plants, the necessity for an increase in their capacity is emphasized to ensure uninterrupted supply. Working on improving efficiency rates of plants and energy waste, and release of environmental pollutants are the challenges faced by the energy sector which is considered main focus in this area.
However, to meet these challenges, increasing plants’ capacity using new technologies, and coordination with the gas industry to optimize energy use over the country are identified as useful strategies. Other proposed strategies are demand management system improvement and energy consumption reform with the purpose of reducing energy consumption, for instance through the establishment of the electricity regulatory; paying special attention to the development and rehabilitating the dilapidated transmission and distribution networks; increasing the plants’ efficiency and cutting down on energy waste; and new services for clean electricity generation.
From among the important tasks of NIPEC in the field of electrical industry projects, the following can be mentioned:
- Consulting, supervisory, and management services for power and optimization projects of Sarcheshmeh, Meydook, Sungun, and Khatoon Abad Copper Complexes.
- Negotiation and signing MoUs with the owners of modern technologies in the field of electricity and related industries
- Studies and investigation of possible approaches for the optimization of electricity consumption in mineral industry
